OLDER ADULT PHYSIOTHERAPY
SERVICES
FALLS
20-30% of older adults fall each year in Canada, and falls are the leading cause of injury related hospitalization. If you have had a fall or are having 'near falls' you could benefit from a physiotherapy assessment. We will not only do a thorough assessment on you as an individual, but we can also look at your home setup and provide recommendations. The consequences of falling is not only injury, but change to mental and physical health such as fear of falling, increased isolation, depression and decreased mobility.

STRENGTH
Strength is important at every stage of life and it is never too late to start. We will help you work on improving your strength, whether you have never done a strength exercise in your life or you used to be an athlete. Getting stronger improves your mental and physical health. Combine this with some aerobic exercise and we see better sleep, improved energy and improvement in chronic health conditions.
MOBILITY
If you have recently experienced a health set-back, hospital admission or a gradual decline in fitness, you may have found your 'mobility' has changed. Perhaps you are increasingly unsteady, or that walk to the grocery store has become more challenging. Or perhaps you came home from hospital with a walker and your goal is to get back to walking without it. If you feel you want to move better we can help you achieve your goals.
VESTIBULAR
Vestibular Rehabilitation helps to restore the function of the vestibular system. The vestibular system involves communication between the inner ear, brain and eyes. It's responsible for helping maintain balance, stabilize our head and body and steady our vision.
Symptoms of vestibular dysfunction include dizziness, vertigo (spinning) and imbalance. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms vestibular rehab can help. One very common diagnosis is BPPV (benign positional paroxsymal vertigo), which is very treatable, typically within 1-3 sessions.
